Updated: Apr 21

Due to the effects of the Coronavirus, New Zealand as a country will be going into self-isolation for the next four weeks apart from essential services. This will mean that Lakewood Lodge is closed for the foreseeable future, however, we see this time as an opportunity rather than a setback.

More now than ever New Zealand and the rest of the world are going digital. Online alternatives to classroom learning and even workplace meetings are adapting to self-isolation rapidly. Although you may not be able to go camping through a screen, the Lakewood team are trying our best to strengthen our online presence to match the ever-growing digital age. Firstly, this means that our website will be completely redesigned. We will be introducing a Newsfeed tab to keep you updated with our staff, animals, activities, and of course, the ever-evolving COVID-19 alerts and what it means for Lakewood Lodge.

Linked to our website will be our brand new Instagram page (@lakewoodlodgeNZ) that you can go follow if you are on Instagram. As the nature of the platform allows, it will be a place to connect with our amazing staff and, of course, see heaps of updates from our super cute animals! Make sure if you have any pictures or videos of your time at camp, tag us and use our hashtag #LakewoodLodgeNZ on any social media platforms so we can see them and maybe even repost you to our story!

In the coming weeks we will be introducing many more exciting digital ways to help you get, and stay, connected to us here at Lakewood Lodge. In the meantime, we are still working on making camp an increasingly magical place of education and FUN every single day.

For the meantime, stay safe in this self-isolation period and keep learning new things.

Monday 23rd March’s government update and what it will mean for Lakewood Lodge

COVID-19 Level 4 Alert

Schools and non-essential services will be shut down for at least four weeks starting 11:59pm, Wednesday, 25 March as the country begins police enforced self isolation. That will mean that Lakewood Lodge will be closing it’s doors for the time being until the Level 4 Alert and it’s effects are dismissed by the government.

We wish everyone the best of heath and to take care of each other in this time.
