BUILD SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE

KAYAKING LESSONS & TRIPS

Kayaking lessons provide a great way to focus on improving your existing skills or to learn the basics for the first time. We can do a group session, or you can have a one on one session that suits your ability. We believe in safety and awareness and will break down the paddling techniques used on the water. The lessons will cover foundation skills in confidence, control and safety when paddling a kayak on a lake and in the moving river environment.

Introductory lessons start on our lake and will teach you basic control skills. We have our own man-made lake on our property, perfect for beginners or people nervous around water and start off with the basic skills and progress from there.

Once more confident, kayakers can move to the gently flowing Whangape River to explore the twists and turns where you will improve your skills. You will also need to begin to think like a kayaker and learn how to descend a river and learn the correct skills, trip planning, safety drills and equipment you should carry. We aim to give you a taste of river kayaking and set you up to practise and improve your knowledge.

ADVANCED

KAYAKERS

For the more confident, the next stage is to progress out to the beautiful Lake Whangape to explore further and go on longer trips while continuing to work on your paddle strokes, rescue techniques and learn about the lovely North Waikato area.

Our experienced instructors Kat & Olivia are available for afterschool/weekend kayaking lessons/trips. They are especially good at building confidence in children and they tailor lessons to meet individual needs and stages. Whether you have never sat in a kayak, and always wanted to, or been kayaking many times, they can tailor a lesson/trip to your level, experience and age.

Lessons cost is $40pp and are an hour in length and bookings are essential as spaces are limited. When booking we need to know a bit about your kayaking experience so we will send a form out for enrolment. This form also gives parental consent for children under the age of 16 and includes emergency contact information.
