Horse Camps | Lakewood Lodge

A camp focused on horses and riding… with a bit of other stuff added in! Designed for those who love horses and want to learn more about them, our Horse Camps happen during most school holidays. This may be a stand-alone camp or a “stream” within our Adventure camp depending on numbers. At Horse Camp you will meet other horse-crazy people, and have a great time hanging out with your new friends and our beautiful equines. Horse Camp sessions involve learning to care for and handle a horse, as well as riding tuition and confidence-building games with our horses. We also have some fun playing Hoofball or going for ride around the farm. For Horse Camp, you may bring your own horse or share one of ours with one other camper, spaces are limited for both options. Our whole team of instructor’s help run Horse Camps, with the Riding and Horse care sessions being taken by our experienced Horse Instructor, Nala. After the horse sessions are finished campers may participate in other fun activities later in the afternoons and evening such as animal feeding, waterslide and the evening activities with our Adventure campers. 2 x non horse day time activities are included in your 5 days so you do not miss out on activities such as the Flying Fox or Kayaking. Horse Camps though are mostly all about Horses, Horses, Horses!

Enjoy a Kiwi experience on real New Zealand farmland at Lakewood Lodge Horse Camps. Meet new friends, be well looked after by our Camp Mum, have lots of scrummy food, challenge yourself with your new favourite horse. Enjoy day and evening organised activities with our fantastic, trained staff.

Our Horse Camps run from Monday 10am to Friday 3pm, usually every week of the New Zealand school holidays.

Campers are encouraged not to bring any electronic devices, they are with us to experience the outdoors and have fun, not be on their phones! Our experienced Camp Mum will take charge of any medication or dietary requirements.

The food! Campers will get breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and dessert, you can be assured they won’t go hungry!

We finish on the Friday afternoon with a prizegiving that parents are welcome to attend before taking your camper home for some much-needed sleep, some have been known to be asleep before getting to the top of the Lakewood Lodge driveway.
