Here at Lakewood Lodge, we have six core rotational activities typically sectioned into sessions of one hour and thirty minutes. Our activities are designed to teach new skills, inspire new passions and to push each individual's comfort zone. Trained facilitators provide the appropriate equipment, a safety talk and help you face your fears or try something new.
We take safety very seriously, being one of the first operators to be registered as an Adventure Activity Operator (AAO) with Worksafe NZ. The regulations aim to enhance professionalism and ensure consistent good practice across the OOA sector. (pursuant to Regulation 6(1) of the Health and Safety in Employment (Adventure Activities) Regulations 2011.)
Head on down to the stables and meet our awesome team of horses. Have a go at our mounted obstacles in the arena to develop basic riding skills, test your concentration and balance, or even ride backward with your eyes closed! You can learn so much about these gentle giants from our horse staff, and you can test yourself with the information & quiz sheets posted around the yard.
Challenge your strength on our 11-metre climbing wall! There is an easy side, but if you feel daring, there is also a difficult side. Not only will you have the opportunity to climb, but you will learn how to belay your friends, thanks to one of our lovely trained instructors. As you wait your turn, have a go at our bouldering wall, or cheer on your friends as they try to reach the bell at the top!
LOW ROPES CHALLENGE COURSE
Work on practical skills like teamwork, communication and problem-solving at our low ropes course. Work your way through as many of our safe and fun activities as your team can manage in the time that you have!
Learn the points of our recurve bows and how to shoot arrows at our dual archery range. Challenge yourself to get the Eagle-eye and practise your skills each round so that you can eventually become better than Robin Hood. Keep score amongst your friends and make it a competition to remember!
Jump into togs, grab a life jacket and head out onto one of our waterways: the lake, the river or Lake Whangape. Learn the basic skills of kayaking and kayak safety as you paddle around with your peers. Play games with our instructors and try to splash them as much as you can, we can promise we will splash you back harder! Put your upper body strength and balance to the test before you have the opportunity to have a swim as the session ends.
DUAL FLYING FOX ZIPLINES
Do you know what it feels like to fly? You will after speeding down our Flying Fox over the lake. Race your friends down to the landing zone, but don't forget to grab the rope! Learn zipline safety and the equipment it needs to work, then pose for photos as you soar over your group.
