My name is… Noah Terese

Job Title… Horse Instructor

Original Country… I was born in Auckland but was raised in Palmerston North! I’ve lived all over the North Island before settling nearby in Te Kauwhata.

Specializing in… I love instructing children and adults about horses, how to be safe around them and have fun! I also enjoy teaching archery and was in the archery team in my high school.

Previous Experience… I was previously a career dairy farmer, with internationally recognized qualifications in stable management and sport horse training out of high school. I drifted from dairy farming when I was 19 to pursue a career as a racehorse jockey but went back to dairy farming after breaking my back. After a few years with cows, I got the opportunity to go into goat dairy farming which I loved!! I also spent my free time retraining and rehoming ex racehorses as sport horses, and giving riding lessons.

In December 2019 I broke my leg quite badly and was forced to quit dairy farming. However, this led me to start working at Lakewood Lodge, which I haven’t looked back from!

Why I love Lakewood… I love working at the Lodge because I like to be a part of a crucial and fun learning experience for so many children! I love to feed the love of horses that so many young people hold in their hearts, as well as help to overcome the fear of them that some have as well. I’m always looking forward to the next group of children I can help to have a positive experience around the horses!
