The 130 metre long twin flying foxes are the newest activity to be built at Lakewood Lodge. Lakewood Lodge staff are delighted with the safety and high standard of the professionally built flying foxes achieved by Karl Ratahi of Project Adventure NZ. These flying foxes are unique in NZ flying over water. It is the culmination of a long term dream to have a flying fox at Lakewood Lodge. And it is even better to have not one but two!
They were tested by local students from Te Kauwhata Primary School on Monday 13th December 2010. Squeals, yells, and "Look at me!" resounded, as they zoomed through the air over our lake. Secure in their sit-in harnesses, they tried flying with outstretched arms, turning somersaults and even standing on their head in the air as they tried to be the fastest person down the flying fox. Not to be outdone, the parents, Lakewood Lodge staff and the media present all strived to beat each other.
Everyone booked for 2011 onwards will have a new, thrilling, safe experience with this unique twin flying fox run by the trained Lakewood Lodge staff.
